A resident of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina since 1988, I came to this area on assignment with the Naval Hospital, Camp LeJeune. I retired from the Navy in 1994 as Lieutenant Commander with 23 years' honorable service.
Over the past 15 years I have served our community as REALTOR, Broker, teacher and administrator, most recently concluding a tremendous tour as master educator and field advisor. In addition, I am currently active with the Medical Reserve Corps, as sunday school teacher with Jenkins Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
A graduate of Keuka College, my Bachelors Degeree in Biochemistry has been augmented with graduate work at Penn State University, where I also served as first woman president of the University's Veterans Organization, and UNC Wilmington, most recently specializing in biology and ecology. I have taught in the Dixon schools, at Coastal carolina Community College and at UNCW while a graduate student.
Locally, I enjoyed conducting research on water quality in the New River that had a significant impact on bringing attention to water safety issues in Wilson Bay. I have historically supported the New River Foundation, having worked with that group since its inception. I also researched migration of coyotes into North Carolina and have published findings related to best management prcticces in the Elisha Mitchell Journal.
